What’s On Durham Weekend Sept 21-22 2019

Plant a piece of Parkwood Estate in your garden! Visit the Parkwood Plant Sale and take home plants that have been removed or divided from the grounds and greenhouse plants. All monies raised will support the tennis court garden rejuvenation project! Co-hosted by Durham Master Gardeners and the Oshawa Garden Club. Sept. 21 2019.

Ontario Shores is celebrating 100 years of providing mental health care in our community with the Century of Care Fair, a family friendly carnival-style event on the grounds. Enjoy a BBQ lunch, bouncy castles, games, face painting, entertainment and more! Sept. 21 2019.

Head to the Canadian Automotive Museum for the Movie Star Cars Gallery Tour! Join expert tour guide Bob as he connects iconic movie scenes to cars in the Canadian Automotive Museum. From a Rolls-Royce used in Goldfinger, to Lightning McQueen from Disney/Pixar’s Cars franchise, automobiles make movies come to life! Learn more about why certain cars were selected and get your picture taken with similar vehicles in the galleries. This tour is included with regular admission, members free. Sept. 21 2019.

Check out Thickson’s Woods Nature Reserve’s 18th Annual Birds, Beavers and Butterflies Nature Festival! Plenty of hands-on activities for kids, plus a nature walk, wildlife show, face painting, and much more! Sept. 21 2019.

Check out Bunny Night and Campfire at Wild Things Petting Farm in Pickering! The farm will be open from 6:00pm-8:00pm for “bunny watching”. Although petting the rabbits isn’t guaranteed, it’s a unique time of day to view them and the other animals that call the farm home. There will also be a campfire with complimentary marshmallows for roasting! Everyone is welcome to bring their own hot dogs too for cooking on the fire. This event is by small donation only and the regular $8.00 admission doesn’t apply. Please note campfire is subject to change due to inclement weather or high winds. Sept. 21 2019.

Go back in time at the Pickering Museum Village for A Spirit Walk! Join Backwoods Players for this award-winning dramatic play of the events that led to the Rebellion of 1837 and how Pickering took part. Deadly Grounds Cafe in Courtice presents Fear Mall, an outdoor horror flea market with more than 20 unique horror vendors, apparel, collectables, art, posters, DVDs, VHS, plus the Delicious Wickedly Sinful Food Truck will be on hand, and the first annual DG Chili Cook Off inside Deadly Grounds Cafe which YOU get to judge!
