What’s On Oshawa Weekend April 27-28 2019

Support local artists at the Oshawa Art Association Spring Art Festival!  70 local artists with a wide variety of fine art work, pottery, glass, sculptures and more. April 27 & 28 2019. 10 am to 5 pm. Camp Samac, 275 Conlin Road North, Oshawa. 

The Second Marsh is hosting Spring Migration Day! Start at the  GM Viewing Tower at 8 am and enjoy a hike at 9 am! Park in the GM West parking lot. April 27 2019. 8 am. 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa. FREE. 

Head east to the Bowmanville Butter Tart Festival! There will be a good mix of tart, bakery, craft and art vendors.  April 27 2019. 2240 Hwy 2, Bowmanville at the Garnet B.Rickard Recreation Complex. 9 am to 4 pm. $ 2 per person, $5 family. 

Check out Club Carib’s Caribbean Dinner and Show Annual Fundraiser supporting the Alzheimer Society Durham Region and the Club Carib of Oshawa Inc. Post Secondary Bursary Fund! Join them for the crowning of Miss Club Carib 2019, a delicious Caribbean dinner and entertainment by the Oshawa Sounds of Steel and the Hummingbird Dancers. Tickets are $45 each. Head to the Ontario Regiment Museum (The Tank Museum) for the 2nd Annual Tank Pulling for Patients! Can you actually pull a tank? Support this fun event by entering a team of ten, donate to a team or person, sponsor a team, ride in a tank, browse the museum of military history and join in the fun!  Supporting the Global Angel Charity Foundation, helping people overcome financial obstacles to critical medical transportation. April 27 2019. 9 am to 2 pm. 100 Stevenson Road North, Oshawa.

It’s the annual Huck Finn Fishing Day at Elgin Pond in Uxbridge! April 27 starting at 09:00 for the parade and 10:00 for the fishing derby. The day will wrap up by 1:00 so don’t disappoint the kids by coming late! Admission is free, participant ribbons can be picked up at Canadian Tire, Blue Heron Books, Uxpool, the Uxbridge Legion and Presents, Presents, Presents.  Under 15 only.

Bring your daughters to Girls Take Flight, a free aviation event presented by the First Canadian Ninety‑Nines
and Durham Flight Centre, to introduce girls and women to aviation! This event is run entirely by volunteers, and pilots donate their fuel and aircraft for girls and women who have never been for a flight in a small aircraft. April 27 2019, at the Oshawa Municipal Airport, 1190 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa. FREE. 

The Ontario Philharmonic presents Lighthouse 50th Anniversary Concert! Don’t miss this special Canadian rock-jazz presentation featuring iconic Canadian sensation Lighthouse with OP Strings. April 27 2019. 8 pm. UOIT Regent Theatre, 50 King Street East, Oshawa. 

The Oshawa Museum presents Tea and Talk: The GM Strike of 1937. Join museum staff to learn about this unforgettable strike at the General Motors plant in April 1937. Three thousand seven hundred workers walked off the job and would not return to the lines until a landmark settlement was reached. This was the inception of the union movement in Canada. April 28 2019. Oshawa Museum, Lakeview Park. Tea & scones are served promptly at 1 pm and costs $10 per person, $5 members of the Oshawa Historical Society. Reservations are required as space is limited. Enjoy the Durham Community Choir Spring Concert: Celebration! Celebrate 25 years of DCC and 20 years under the direction of J.C. Coolen!
