North Durham Nature presents the 8th Annual The Brook Never Sleeps, a “hands wet” experiential eco-workshop. It’s everything maple at Willowtree Farm in Port Perry for MapleFest! Bring your family out for a day at the sugar shack and see an authentic maple syrup operation.  They’ll be serving a traditional pancake breakfast daily from 9am-4pm during MapleFest event days with homemade buttermilk pancakes, scratch made baked beans and maple breakfast sausage! Catch a performance of Footloose: The Musical at the Oshawa Little Theatre! When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment. What he isn’t prepared for are is a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind. April 5-7 (until April 13) 2019. The Oshawa Museum is celebrating Archives Awareness Week at SUNday Funday! Explore our City’s past through artefacts from our archival collection. Find out where some of your favourite places in downtown Oshawa are on an 1877 Historical Atlas. Use census records to find out what the Henry family grew on their land; check out old photos and what we can learn by zooming in to look at them. Kids can work with Museum staff to colourize photos and put together puzzle maps. Material about research and preservation of your family’s home and heritage will be available.
