The Ontario Regiment Museum hosts the biggest military show in Canada: AQUINO Weekend! It’s a full two days of military shows, reenactments, static displays, and, as always, the chance to explore the indoor museum displays. Picks and Giggles and the Abilities Centre in Whitby host the All Things Handmade Show! Shop hundreds of local artistans and vendors working and living in your community, plus check out free programs at the Abilities Centre! June 9 2018. 10 am to 3 pm. 55 Gordon Street, Whitby. $3.00. 

The Peony Festival returns to the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens! One of Oshawa’s most popular annual festivals, events include a judged peony flower show, bonsai display, photo contest and art competition, plus works for sale by painters, sculptors and artisans. There’s also indoor displays in Children’s Arena, and outdoor children’s garden, horticultural advice, musical entertainment, cultural performances and a variety of culinary choices!  Parking is limited at Children’s Arena. Celebrate Oshawa Fire Services annual Community Safety Day! Take the kids to Firehall #5 for fire truck tours, fire safety information, firefighter demonstrations, free BBQ, face painting, jumping castle and so much more! This event is free, with donations being gratefully accepted towards sending a child to Camp Bucko, a camp for children who have suffered burn injuries in Ontario. The Canadian Automotive Museum is hosting a Downtown Oshawa Walking Tour, where one of their expert guides will tell the story of the history of auto manufacturing in downtown Oshawa. Includes a 60 minute guided tour of downtown Oshawa’s automotive heritage sites, plus admission and guided tour of the Canadian Automotive Museum. Rain or shine! June 9 2018. 11 am to 1 pm.  99 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa. This tour is included with regular admission and tickets can be pre-purchased online or at the museum the day of the tour.
