What’s On Oshawa Weekend February 10 & 11 2018

The Friends of Nonquon and North Durham Nature are hosting a Winter Wetland Snowshoe Adventure at the Nonquon Environmental Education Centre!  Feed chickadees, identify animal tracks, enjoy hot chocolate, and learn to snowshoe! Longer and shorter hikes will be offered, but only a limited number of snowshoes will be available for loan, so please bring your own if you have them! Pre-registration is required, email friendsofnonquon@gmail.com.  February 10 2018. 9 am to 12 pm. Travel north of Port Perry on Old Scugog Road, the Nonquon EEC is approx. 500 metres past Scugog 10th line on the right. 

Romance is alive and well at the Canadian Automotive Museum! Bring your “love bug” to the Museum for a tour of the gallery featuring automotive love stories. Expert tour guides will explore stories of love and loss related to automobiles on display. Discover the history behind the iconic Rolls-Royce’s hood ornament, learn the intriguing tale behind a Canadian knight and a Italian countess, and hear the last romantic words of Isadora Duncan before her untimely death in a Bugatti. The Oshawa Little Theatre presents One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Randle Patrick McMurphy is a larger-than-life, fun-loving, charismatic rogue who figures his short prison sentence will be cushier if he contrives to spend it in the loony bin. His attempts to disrupt the strict regimens, and introduce spontaneity and free-will to his fellow patients, put him in direct conflict with the indomitable Nurse Ratchet. The Robert McLaughlin Gallery is hosting a Q & A session between Grant Cole and curator Sonya Jones to celebrate the opening of Grant Cole: The Parade of Life.  Oshawa-based artist Cole is drawn to the formality of everyday life depicted in the Thomas Bouckley Collection of historical photographs. While Cole’s work typically explores his own personal successes and failures, his subjects in his latest work, inspired by the collection, are depicted with what identifies their success, whether an object, uniform, skill, or profession.
