Kick off the holiday season with Tree Lighting at Civic Square at City Hall! Enjoy free family fun, including live entertainment, hot chocolate (bring your own mug!), and a visit from Santa himself.   Then head to the Oshawa Public Library McLaughlin Branch for treats and family activities, part of their Tree Lighting After Party program, until 9 pm. November 17, 2017. 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm. 50 Centre Street South, Oshawa.  FREE, but please bring a non-perishable food item or an unwrapped toy. 

Santa’s Parade of Lights will delight downtown Oshawa on November 18, 2017 at 6 pm!  To avoid being blocked in by the parade, organisers recommend parking north of Bond Street or south of King Street along the parade route. FREE. Find route details here

Check out the Holiday Market at the Station Gallery in Whitby! The Holiday Market will include local artisans and businesses displaying their hand-crafted goods just in time of the holiday season. Cash bar will be available during the afternoon. November 18 2017. 10 am to 5 pm. 1450 Henry Street, Whitby. 

Head to the Canadian Automotive Museum for the Cars and War Tour, focusing on the military stories and connections in the museum’s permanent collection. Discover the role automotive manufactures played in both World War s from Canada and Britain, to Italy and Spain. Tour included with regular admission, members free. Catch a performance of the classic story Anne of Green Gables! Green Gables is the home of lovable Matthew Cuthbert and his stern sister, Marilla. They agree to adopt a boy to help with the farm work, but imagine their consternation when Anne Shirley, a girl in her teens, is sent by the orphanage by mistake! Anne touches Matthew’s heart with her vivid imagination and her charitable viewpoint, but it takes time to reach the tender heart beneath Marilla’s hard exterior.
