Christmas Events in Oshawa

Kick off the holiday season with Tree Lighting at Civic Square at City Hall! Enjoy free family fun, including live entertainment, hot chocolate (bring your own mug!), and a visit from Santa himself.   Then head to the Oshawa Public Library McLaughlin Branch for treats and family activities, part of their Tree Lighting After Party program, until 9 pm. November 17, 2017. 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm. 50 Centre Street South, Oshawa.  FREE, but please bring a non-perishable food item or an unwrapped toy. 

Santa’s Parade of Lights will delight downtown Oshawa on November 18, 2017 at 6 pm!  To avoid being blocked in by the parade, organisers recommend parking north of Bond Street or south of King Street along the parade route. FREE. Find route details here

Check out the Holiday Market at the Station Gallery in Whitby! The Holiday Market will include local artisans and businesses displaying their hand-crafted goods just in time of the holiday season. Cash bar will be available during the afternoon. November 18 2017. 10 am to 5 pm. 1450 Henry Street, Whitby. 

Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings is a brand new show that offers the best of Forever Plaid, tied up in a nifty package with a big Christmas bow on top! Filled with Christmas standards that have all been “Plaid-erized,” the boys are back to do their Christmas Special.  November 19 2017. 6 pm. The C.P. Holiday Train rolls into Oshawa on November 28, 2017! Now in its 19th year of raising money, food and awareness for local food banks and food shelves, please bring a non-perishable food item to donate. November 28 2017. Behind the Walmart at Stevenson Road and Laval.  3 pm.  FREE. 

Drop by the Canadian Automotive Museum for their annual Holiday Open House! Festive music will be playing and hot beverages and seasonal snacks will be served. Bring the kids and they can take home a car-themed holiday craft and card. This event is free and open to the public. December 1, 2017. 4 pm to 7 pm.  FREE (but donations gratefully accepted). 

Step back in time at the Oshawa Museum’s Annual Lamplight Tour! Explore the historic homes that make up the museum, dress up in period costumes, and take a photo with Father Christmas. December 2, 2017, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Admission is $5 per person.  Lakeview Park, Oshawa. 

Head to the Northview Community Centre for Deck the Halls! It’s an evening of family fun, including entertainment, games, activities, and a visit from Santa, plus lighting of the Northview Christmas tree. December 7, 2017. 5 pm to 8 pm. 150 Beatrice Street East, Oshawa. 

Catch a screening of the 1951 holiday classic A Christmas Carol at the Regent Theatre, part of Classic Movie Nights. December 7, 2017. 7 pm. $5 at the door, cash only. Children/students free. 50 King Street East, Oshawa. 

The Barra MacNeils bring their unique East Coast Christmas show to the UOIT Regent Theatre! Enjoy a musical potpourri of traditional MacNeil family favourites gleaned from Christmas ceilidhs, midnight masses and the general festive frolic that accompanies each holiday season.  December 9 2017. 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm. 50 King Street West, Oshawa. $52. 

The Ontario Philharmonic presents In the Spirit of the Holidays, performing the masterful works of Tchaikovsky and Dvorak, as well as the Durham Youth Orchestra Players to the stage for this rousing Holiday Season program.  December 16 2017. 8 pm. UOIT Regent Theatre, 50 King Street West, Oshawa.
