What’s On Oshawa Weekend August 25-27 2017

Kars on King rolls into Downtown Oshawa! The Downtown Oshawa BIA is again hosting this annual free event with hundreds of classic cars from across North America. No registration required, open to all cars 1986 and older, plus check out Pauly and the Good Fellas live on stage! August 25 2017. 3 pm to 9:30 pm. Downtown Oshawa. Free. 

It’s the 5th Annual Touch-a-Truck event in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-West Durham! It’s free, fun, and hands-on, where kids can get up close and personal with over 40 different vehicles of all shapes and sizes. August 25 2017. 4 pm to 8 pm. Tribute Communities Centre, Oshawa. FREE. 

The SCOTT FireFit Championships returns to the Legends Centre for a weekend of exciting challenges! Run worldwide, the competitions pit firefighters head-to-head as they complete tasks commonly performed in emergency situations.  New this year, the Firehouse Subs FireFit Zone will give children the opportunity to try out a variety of relay challenges! The course will be open for the duration of the weekend for children to run a child-friendly version of the Championship course in their attempts to save Rescue Bear. Stop by the Canadian Automotive Museum for the Kars on King Open House!  Stop by and view the latest exhibit, Canada’s Car Stories, as well as recent gallery renovations.  August 25 2017. 99 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa. 4 pm – 8 pm. Admission by donation. 

Calling all burlesque lovers, performers, or anyone who wants to give it a try! For one night only, it’s Open Stage: Burlesque Edition, at Club 717! Come on down and join hosts TroyBoy Parks and Kitty Galore for an exciting night! August 25 2017. 7-717 Wilson Road, Oshawa. 9 pm to 2 am. $5 cover. 19+. 

It’s Autofest at Lakeview Park! This annual event is now in it’s 24th year, and will offer more cars and excitement then ever! August 26 & 27 2017. Opens to the public 9 am on August 26. Lakeview Park, Oshawa. Day Pass $12. 

Give speed skating a try! The Durham Speed Skating Club is hosting a free open house at the Tribute Communities Centre, and they provide the skates! Ages 7 and up! August 26 2017. 10 am. Email info@durhamspeedskatingclub.ca to book your spot! 

It’s time to Terrarium Party at Dream Bloom! Bring a date, your family, friends or even foe (you might end up being friends!), and Dream Bloom will take care of the rest.  Includes choice of plants, choice of container, choice of decorative items, use of tools, some light refreshments, mini lesson on how to create and care for your terrarium! In honour of Canada150, the Canadian Automotive Museum is offering walking tours highlighting the history of automotive manufacturing in downtown Oshawa! Expert guides will explore the streetscape and bring to life the people and places that made Oshawa “Canada’s Motor City.” Includes admission and guided tour of the Museum! Wear comfy shoes, dress for the weather (tours run rain or shine!), and photography is encouraged! August 27 2017. 1 pm to 2 pm. 99 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa. General admission tickets can be pre-purchased online or at the museum the day of the tour. No RSVP necessary!
