It’s Whitby Ribfest, presented by the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise! Enjoy ribs (and more!), live entertainment, a rib eating contest, and full midway all weekend long. July 7-9 2017. Head to Bowmanville for the Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix! It’s Canada’s biggest sports car race of the year featuring the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for exotic prototype and GT race cars, in their only north-of-the-border stop.  A field of world-class drivers will race cars from such prominent global marques as Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Corvette,Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Mazda and Porsche.  Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and IMSA Prototype Challenge Series. Check out the “Open Grid Walk,” driver autograph sessions, and open team paddocks. For the Open Grid Walk on Sunday morning, spectators are allowed to gather in pit lane, along with all the cars, drivers and crews.  Be sure to visit the paddock areas, located on the circuit infield at the north end near the start/finish straight. Access to the paddock is included with event ticket purchase. Bring your Sharpie, autograph book, and camera because you’ll have excellent opportunities to meet and speak with the drivers! The 4th annual Durham Region Craft Beer Festival is back in downtown Oshawa, featuring a premier selection of Ontario Craft Brewers! Each guest will receive sampling tokens that can be used for beer or food and an official Durham Craft Beer Festival sample glass to use throughout the event and take home afterwards. July 8 2017. 12:30 pm to 8 pm. Ontario St. (one block east of Simcoe between Bond and King), Oshawa. $25 per ticket. 19+. 

It’s Tank Saturday at the Ontario Regiment Museum! It’s a special Canada 150 event, featuring vehicles used by Canada from WWII to today, including 50 Cal and Sherman 76mm Fire Demonstrations.  Admission includes access to the museum that houses artifacts, medals, weapons, and uniforms covering 150 years of Canadian military history from the Fenian Raids of 1866 to the conflicts of today. Visit the vehicle bay to get up-close with the large collection of military vehicles and Tanks, and enjoy a live vehicle demonstration with Tanks and Armoured vehicles! Join the LivingRoom Community Art Studio for an afternoon of tie-dye experimentation and fun! Work with white cotton banners – but you’re welcome to bring cotton t-shirts, clothing, bags, etc. from home to dye as well. Visit the Station Gallery in Whitby for the Opening Reception of the Community Exhibition, Constructing Stories! Each summer, Station Gallery reserves the gallery space to showcase the artwork made in our community and outreach programs!
