It’s the Birds, Beavers & Butterflies Nature Festival at Thickson’s Woods Nature Reserve! Enjoy an enchanted garden walk, build your own nature box, a magic show and creepy critters, plus much more. Celebrate 150 years of service and sacrifice with the Ontario Regiment. The Regiment will troop its Guidon and will be joined by its Cadet Garrison in welcoming a new Commanding Officer and Regimental Sergeant Major at the GM Centre at 11 am. At the conclusion of the parade, the Regiment and its Old Guard will march through downtown Oshawa led by the Regimental Band of the Governor General’s Horse Guards, arriving at the Armoury for a reception immediately afterwards, at approximately 1 pm. Discover the stories of Oshawa’s Union Cemetery like never before! Scenes from the Cemetery, a dramatic tour through Oshawa’s history, takes place Saturday, September 17. On this walking tour, actors will bring stories to life, portraying people from Oshawa’s past, sharing stories of society, humour, and of war and loss. Tickets are $20 each and are available for purchase at the Oshawa Museum. As the number of tour spots for each group time is limited, please purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Lace up and head to Storie Park in Oshawa for the 36th Annual Oshawa Terry Fox Run! The route is fully accessible via bike, skateboard, wheelchair, stroller, roller blade or on foot, all ages are welcome and dogs on leashes are welcome, too. Many free activities including a bouncy castle, face painting, fire truck, yoga and live band.
There will also be a BBQ, Silent Auction, and t-shirt sales, all in support of The Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research. No minimum donation required. No need to pre-register.
