5 Awesome Things to do on McLaughlin Day 2016

No plans for August 1, 2016?  Spend McLaughlin Day checking out these awesome events:

Get outside and splash, dive or slide away the day for free! Visit Camp Samac pool or Rotary pool for free swimming courtesy of the City of Oshawa.  Check schedules here.

Go back in time at the Oshawa Museum! Learn about Oshawa’s earliest settlers, and explore our city’s First Nations heritage.  Lakeview Park, 1450 Simcoe Street South.  12 pm to 4 pm.  Admission by donation.

Head to Parkwood Estate for Basement Tour Weekend! This popular tour takes visitors through restricted and rarely-seen parts of R.S. McLaughlin’s family estate.  Tours run on demand, but there are stairs that need to be negotiated to access the basement spaces of the mansion. No advance booking required.  270 Simcoe Street North. 10:30 am to 5 pm.  $10 per person, regardless of age.  Recommended for ages 10+.

Take a walk through the Discovery Trail at Purple Woods Conservation Area!  It’s fully accessible and under a kilometre – perfect for families with small children. Pets welcome. 38 Coates Road East. Open dawn till dusk.  FREE.

Download the Pokemon GO app and get hunting! Memorial Park and Lakeview Park are both hotspots, but be safe when playing, and always be aware of your surroundings.
