WWE Superstars take over the General Motors Centre for the SummerSlam Heatwave Tour! Superstars like Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Sheamus, The Usos and many more will jump in the ring for high-flying entertainment unlike any other. This will be the largest sports entertainment event to ever hit Oshawa – and great seats are still available! Tickets start at only $15.00 and are available online, by phone at 1-877-436-8811 or at the General Motors Centre Box Office.  99 Athol Street East. 7:30 pm.  Tickets $15 and up. 

Head to the Robert McLaughlin Gallery for RMG Fridays!  Check out Laurent Bourque and soulful duo Dezz & Carol, meet artists Laura Madera and learn more about her exhibition The Angle of the Sun’s Rays, tour Sarindar Dhaliwal’s exhibition: The Radcliffe Line and Other Geographies, get hands-on with colour with the studio art project, and enjoy a craft beer tasting with Brock Street Brewery and a food table by Nourished On The Go.  72 Queen Street. 7 pm to 10 pm. FREE, all ages.  Donations welcome.  Cash bar. 

Ribbers rejoice! The 5th Annual Whitby Ribfest returns to Whitby Victoria Fields with three days of food, live entertainment, and family fun! Free parking at the GO Transit Parking lot at the corner of Henry St. and Victoria St. 500 Victoria Street West. Friday 12 pm – 11 pm, Saturday 11 am – 11 pm, Sunday 11 am – 8 pm. FREE. Food extra, cash only.

There are still spots available for the Roberto Alomar and Friends Challenger Baseball TournamentChallenger Baseball is a national program that has been launched in Whitby with Hall of Fame player Roberto Alomar and the Toronto Blue Jays as partners.  Children with special needs get a unique experience at Challenger Baseball:  Every player gets a “buddy” that stays with them for the entire game, helping them to get the most out of their time on the field.  Participants will receive a baseball hat, t-shirt, are invited to the post-event BBQ! It’s Tank Saturday at the Ontario Regiment Museum!  Watch, hear and feel the live demonstration of military vehicles and tanks of the Cold War in the Tank Arena.  1000 Stevenson Road North. 10 am to 4 pm. Adults $5, children $2. 

Take your little one to Cineplex Family Favourites and watch the Sesame Street film, Follow That Bird! Cineplex Cinemas, 1351 Grandview Street North. 11 am. $2.99 per ticket.  

Spend the afternoon at a hand-on workshop about Plastic Canvas Embroidery from an artist who is passionate about the medium! All ages and abilities are welcome. The 3rd Annual Durham Craft Beer Festival is coming to downtown Oshawa! Check out returning favourites and exciting newcomers at this popular event.  Ontario Street, King Street entrance. Tickets can be purchased at the door, online, or in person at Buster Rhino’s Southern BBQ, 28 King Street East. $25 general admission advance, $30 at the door, $75 VIP experience. 12:30 pm to 8 pm.  19+, ID required.
