Start the weekend with a relaxing yoga session in a historic setting!  Join the Durham Yogi Community at the Oshawa Museum for an hour of yoga in the garden.  Participants are required to take their own mats and water. Donations to the Oshawa Museum are kindly accepted.  Just drop in! 1450 Simoce Street South, Lakeview Park. 10 am.  FREE. 

Does it taste as good as Nonna’s? Celebrate Italian Heritage Month at the Oshawa Italian Recreation Club, where visitors can sample traditional Italian cuisine and enjoy great Italian culture. 245 Simcoe Street South.  5 pm to 10 pm.

Enjoy Artists in the Garden and support Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre!  Don’t miss this popular annual Durham Region tour of beautiful gardens, showcasing local artists and musicians.  $20 advance, $25 at the garden gates.  10 am to 5 pm.  Various locations.

It’s time for a family picnic, organized by Grandview’s Family Advisory Committee! All Grandview families are invited to bring a blanket and packed lunch for an afternoon of games, raffles and family fun.  Pre-registration is required and can be completed online or by emailing FAC@grandviewkids.ca.  Grandview Children’s Centre, 600 Townline Road.  11 am to 2 pm.  

Love cars?  Check out the Oshawa Italian Recreation Club’s Italian Motor Show featuring exotic Italian motoring ranging from Ferrari, Maserati, AlfaRomeo, FIAT to Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia Vespa, part of the Club’s Italian Heritage Month celebrations.  245 Simcoe Street South.  4 pm to 7 pm.

North.  Cash bar at 7 pm, show at 8 pm.  $20 in advance, $25 at the door.  

Seven years have passed since KISS played Oshawa’s GM Centre, but KISS fans can get their fix when Destroyer, Canada’s premier KISS tribute band takes the stage at the UOIT Regent Theatre!  Lots of great seats still available! Book online.  50 King Street East. 8 pm.  $30.

Celebrate Fiesta Week at the annual Father’s Day Parade and concert! Join Parade Grand Marshal Jennifer Valentyne at 12 pm in Oshawa, and don’t forget to stop by for a meet and greet in Memorial Park at 2 pm.  For the full parade route, click here.  Parade starts and finishes at the intersection of King Street and Centre Street.  12 pm. FREE. 

Is Dad a “car guy”? Then what better place to bring him on Father’s Day than the Canadian Automotive Museum! Volunteer guides will be on hand for guided tours of the galleries at 11 am and 1 pm. Tours are included with admission. 99 Simcoe Street South.  Adults $10, Children/Youth $5, under 5s FREE. 

This Father’s Day, spend some quality time with your favourite guy on a heritage train ride through the stunning Oak Ridges Moraine.  Plus, you can brag to your old man about what a bargain it was because of the York-Durham Heritage Railway’s special buy one ticket, and get Dad’s for half price deal.  Or, maybe not.  Trains can be boarded in Uxbridge and Stouffville.
