Friday, June 10

It’s Recreation and Parks month!  So kick off your weekend with a free workout at one of Oshawa’s fitness centres!  All day, various locations.  FREE.  

Enjoy Yoga in the Garden at the Oshawa Museum, in partnership with the Durham Yogi Community!  Bring your own mat and unwind with a relaxing yoga session in the Museum’s beautiful heritage gardens.  1450 Simcoe Street South.  10 am – 11 am.  FREE.  Drop in.  

Support indie rock and check out local band West Hammock at their record release show at the Moustache Club, presented by Manantler Brewing Co.!  15 Simcoe Street North.  9 pm. 

It’s the final weekend to catch Dancyn Productions performance of RENT! 681 Dnipro Blvd. Various times. Adults $25, Youth $17. Until June 12. 

Saturday June 11

It’s the 12th annual Peony Festival! This free event displays 300 types of peonies in the gardens and 100’s more inside Children’s Arena. Artisans, live music, food, gardening seminars, community displays and more are all part of this festival.  Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens.  10 am to 4 pm.  Runs till June 12. FREE. 

Missed it the first time around? Catch a screening of Minions at Cineplex Family Favourites!  1351 Harmony Road North.  11 am.  $2.99 per ticket.  

See wrestlers Jewels Malone vs. Alexia Nicole and Sebastian Suave vs. Jesse Amato at Harmony Hall!  15 Harmony Road North. 7 pm. Advance tickets start at $15. 

Bring your duplicate Shopkins to trade at the Scholar’s Choice Shopkins Swap Meet789 Taunton Road East, Unit 4. 12 pm – 2 pm.  FREE. 

Tank Saturdays are back and they’re bigger and louder than ever!  Head to the Ontario Regiment Museum to watch an awesome display of vehicles from Operation Desert Storm in action.  1000 Stevenson Road North. Demonstrations at 11 am and 1 pm.  Adults $5, Children $2, under 5s FREE.  

Try your hand at shaving foam prints and ink to create beautiful marbled effects for scrapbooking and more at The LivingRoom Community Art Studio! 149 Simcoe Street South. 12 pm – 2 pm.  All ages and abilities welcome. Sunday, June 12 

Head to the Robert McLaughlin Gallery to create summer-inspired artwork at OPG Second Sundays! Ideal for children ages 3 and up.  72 Queen Street. 1 pm to 3 pm. FREE.  

Check out The Friends of Fort McMurray Music Marathon for a day of music in aid of those affected by the Alberta wildfires.  Memorial Park.  10 am to 5 pm.
