Catch Lads ‘N Lashes, a musical comedy show featuring one of Toronto’s best known drag troupes impersonating popular stars like Cher, Tina Turner and Mariah Carey! The Corral, 433 Simcoe St. S. 7 pm.  $20.

It’s National Public Works Week, so head over to the the Region of Durham’s Oshawa/Whitby Depot for free family events including their famous truck and equipment display, educational displays about waste management, source water protection and traffic, a face painter, children’s activities, crafts and more! 10 am – 3 pm. 825 Conlin Rd. in Whitby.  FREE.

It’s bigger, badder and tastier than ever! The 3rd annual Food Truck Frenzy returns to Iroquois Park in Whitby. Featuring 30+ food trucks serving everything from savoury international dishes to decadent desserts, a full day of music, and 10 local food artisans so foodies can enjoy delicious food grown and crafted in Durham.  Suggested donation for admission is $2 per person, or $5 per family.  May 14 11 am – 11 pm, May 15 11 am – 8 pm.  500 Victoria Street West, Whitby.  Free parking.  

It’s back! Tank Saturdays at the Ontario Regiment Museum is ready to roll, featuring vehicles from the Second World War in the Tank Arena, including: M4 Sherman Tank (with blank fire demonstration), M3 Stuart light Tank
M24 Chaffee medium Tank, Universal Carrier (Bren Carrier), M8 Greyhoud Armoured Car and more!  1000 Stevenson Road North. 10 am – 1 pm. Adults $5, Children $2.  

The Oshawa Public Library presents an author visit and book launch for Oshawa author Steve Burrows.  Burrows will discuss the latest title in his Birder Murder Mystery series, A Cast of Falcons. Books will be available for purchase (cash only). 10 am to 12 pm.  Free, but pre-registration is required.  Northview Branch, 250 Beatrice Street. 

Take the family to see Shorts, an action comedy for kids about a mysterious object that falls into the hands of a group of misfit kids and their dysfunctional families who unleash its powers on an unsuspecting community, setting off a series of mythical misadventures.  The cast includes Jon Cryer, William H. Macy, Leslie Mann and James Spader. 11 am.  1351 Harmony Road North.  $2.99 per ticket.  Explore Lindsay Lauckner Gundlock: Familiarity in the Foreign the the Robert McLaughlin Gallery.  The images represent the quiet moments that she found among the chaos of travel, as well as the pieces of a place that she grasped onto, and that in return, etched themselves onto her.  Until June 5, 2016. 72 Queen Street. Love Shopkins? Your child can bring their duplicate Shopkins characters to trade at the Shopkins Swap Meet.  12 pm – 2 pm. Scholar’s Choice, 789 Taunton Road East. FREE.

Stop by The LivingRoom Community Art Studio and learn about Alcohol Inks, then create your very own artist tile with this very special medium.  All ages and abilities are welcome, all materials provided.  12 pm – 2 pm. 149 Simcoe Street South.  Suggested donation of $10 or Pay-What-You-Like in support of the LivingRoom project. Love The King? Head to the Tribute to Elvis: In Concert at the Regent Theatre! Don’t miss two of the worlds most coveted Elvis Tribute Artists known today: Pete Paquette from Toronto, and, back by popular demand, Chris Connor from the United Kingdom. Have you ever wondered what the staff of the Oshawa Museum does? Celebrate Museum Month with us and get Accessioned! This behind the scenes tour of the Museum on Sunday, May 15th, 2016 will allow visitors to interact with artifacts and talk to professionals. 12 pm to 4 pm.  $5 per person.  All ages welcome! Join the Robert McLaughin Gallery for two artist talks, and learn more about the artistic practices of Gallery A artists Jessica Field and Ruth Read. 1 pm to 3 pm.  72 Queen Street.  FREE.

Revisit the classic tunes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, accompanied by the Las Vegas Orchestra of the North in this Las Vegas style show!  Music, gags and a spot-on interpretation of Frank and Dean make this an evening to remember.  3 pm.  UOIT Regent Theatre, 50 King Street East.  $40, and great seats are still available.
