What’s On Oshawa Weekend: Jan 29 – 31, 2016

Visit the Robert McLaughlin Gallery’s new exhibition Their Stories:  Unidentified Portraits from the Thomas Bouckley Collection.  Date: Until May 1, 2016.  Location:  72 Queen Street. Cost:  FREE, donations welcome.

Catch a free screening of the 2015 film He Named Me Malala at the Legends Centre Branch of the Oshawa Public Library.  Date: January 29, 2016.  Location:  1661 Harmony Road North.  Time:  6 pm.  Cost:  FREE. Registration required.  Adult program.  

Celebrate the opening of the Regina Exhibit at the Canadian Automotive Museum! The CAM will unveil their newly renovated space in the front lobby, featuring the story of a 1929 Chevrolet produced in Regina, SK. Date:  January 29, 2016.  Time:  6 pm to 8 pm.  Location:  99 Simcoe Street South.  Cost:  FREE. Refreshments will be served.

Create your very own hand made book with artist and educator Samantha Ouellette at The Living Room Community Art Studio! Learn how to hand stitch and bind materials together so that you can create new journals out of upcycled materials, or create one-of-a-kind manuscripts for self publishing. Date:  January 30, 2016.  Location:  149 Simcoe Street South.  Time:  11 am to 1 pm.  Cost:   Suggested donation of $10 or Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC). Baseball Oshawa will be leading clinics for kids, ages 4 to 9!  No experience required, just bring a glove and indoor running shoes. Head to the UOIT Regent Theatre for a spectacular evening of Tchaikovsky and the Ontario Philharmonic, with violinist Alexandre Da Costa, with Marco Parisotto conducting “The Sleeping Beauty,” Violin Concerto op. 35 in D major, and Francesca da Rimini op. 32.  Date: January 30, 2016. Inspired by the robotic drawings of exhibiting artist Jessica Field, kids can print their own technology-inspired creatures and build their identities, complete with an “official” birth certificate.  Date: January 31, 2016.  Location: Station Gallery, Whitby, 1450 Henry Street.  Time: 1 pm- 3 pm.  Cost: $20 for a non-Member family.
