What’s On Oshawa Weekend: Dec 12 -13, 2015

Families of children with autism are invited to Breakfast with Santa! Catch the live action remake of the Dr. Seuss classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey, at Cineplex Family Favourites!  Date:  December 12, 2015.  Location:  1351 Grandview Street North. Time:  11 am.  Cost:  $2.99 per ticket.

Join community artist and LivingRoom regular Jaye Cossar to create a one-of-a-kind up-cycled Eye-Spy toy!  All materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own trinkets to personalize your Eye-Spy experience. Date:  December 12, 2015. Learn the basics of block printing with urban artist & educator Andres Musta! Learn how to safely handle lino cutting tools to create printing blocks that can be use create original art prints, holiday cards and/or street art stickers!  This workshop is free for all ages and abilities – but space is limited due to availability of tools and materials. Lunch at Allen’s are a band comprised of Canadian song writing royalty: Murray McLauchlan, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Ian Thomas.  The group will take you on a journey of humorous stories, while performing their classic and modern hits. An afternoon of classical seasonal songs and duets by Brie Kroeker, Kim Sartor, and William Shookhoff at A Sacred Christmas.  Date:  December 13, 2015.  Location:  St. Luke’s Church, 333 Rossland Rd. West.  Time:  3:30 pm to 5 pm.  Cost:  Suggested donation of $20.  

Not enough Christmas carols in your life?  The Salvation Army Oshawa Temple is hosting a Community Carol Concert, followed by a bake sale and silent auction.  Date:  December 13, 2015. Location:  570 Thornton Road North.  Time:  7 pm to 9 pm.  Cost:  FREE.  

Nuance Vocal Ensemble present an evening of a cappella and accompanied traditional carols and new Christmas songs.  Date:  December 13, 2015.  Location:  Kedron United Church, 1995 Ritson Road North.  Time:  7:30 pm.  Cost:  $15 at the door.

Celebrate the holidays with a Victorian Tea at the Oshawa Community Museum! Weekday tours include sandwiches, scones, dessert and a tour of the Museum decorated for a Victorian Christmas.  Weekend tea includes tea and scones with a short presentation about Victorian Christmas in Oshawa. Dates: December 17, 18, and 20, 2015.  Location:  Oshawa Community Museum.  Time: Weekdays 11:30 am.  Weekend 1 pm.  Cost:  Adults $15, children $7.50 on weekdays.
