What’s On Oshawa Weekend: Dec 3 – 6, 2015

Check out Deck the Halls Around the World at Northview Community Centre, an all-ages evening that includes the official lighting of the Northview Christmas tree, a visit from Santa, crafts, and storytelling. Date: December 3, 2015. Location: 150 Beatrice Street East. Time: 5 pm to 8 pm. Cost: FREE, but please bring a donation to the food bank.

Queen Elsa and Princess Anna invite you to join them for an evening of pizza and fun with a special guest – Santa Claus! Bring your camera and autograph books, because the Frozen princesses and Santa will be posing for pictures. Date: December 3, 2015. Watch the classic musical Mary Poppins at the Oshawa Little TheatreDate: runs until December 12, 2015.  Location:  62 Russet Ave., Time:  various. Cost:  $28 per ticket. 

Enjoy a free screening of the 2015 animated family film Shawn the Sheep!  Date: December 4, 2015.  Location:  Legends Centre Branch of the Oshawa Public Library.  Time:  6 pm.  Cost:  FREE.  Registration required.  

It’s time for Holiday Magic at RMG Fridays! Carolyn T’s powerful voice commands the stage, followed by an engaging performance with former “The Guess Who” member Dale Russell, accompanied by Artemis Chartier. Enjoy a tea tasting by Honey and Tea and support Feed the Need Durham by donating a non-perishable food item. Join artist Mike Drolet in Gallery A. Date: December 4, 2015. Visit the Canadian Automotive Museum and celebrate their newest acquisition, a 1927 Toronto-built Dodge, at the official Reception and Holiday Open House. The event includes tours, a talk, and refreshments.  Date:  December 4, 2015. Location:  99 Simcoe Street South.  Time:  6 pm to 9 pm.  Cost:  FREE.

Watch the Polar Express in 3D at Cineplex Family Favourites!  Date:  December 5, 2015.  Location:  1351 Grandview Street North.  Time:  11 am.  Cost: $2.99 per ticket. 

Need a few Christmas gifts?  Make DIY Fabric Art Garlands and Zen Paper Bowls at The Living Room Community Art Studio.  Date:  December 5, 2015. Celebrate a Victorian Christmas at the Oshawa Community Museum’s annual Lamplight Tour. Date: December 5, 2015. Location: Oshawa Community Museum, Lakeview Park. Time: 6 pm to 8 pm. Cost: $5 per person.

Enjoy Breakfast with Santa at the DeStefano Funeral Home, presented by the Airport Lions Club.  Date:  December 6, 2015.  Location:  Keith Ross Drive, at Taunton between Simcoe and Thornton.  Time:  9 am to 11 am.  Cost:  $7.  Email airportlionsclub@gmail.com for tickets.

It’s Sunday FUNday at the Oshawa Community Museum, where kids can learn to write with nib pens and ink, and create a letter for Santa.  Date:  December 6, 2015.  Location:  Oshawa Community Museum, Lakeview Park.  Time: 12 pm to 4 pm.  Cost:  $5 suggested donation.  

Learn needle felting for the holidays, and make lots of little projects to take away! Date:  December 6, 2015.  Location: Spirit Lantern Studios, 136 Simcoe Street North, Unit #2.  Time:  1:30 pm to 3 pm.  Cost:  $25 adult, $20 under 18.  No experience necessary, but must be over 12 to attend.  Register by emailing spiritlanternstudios@gmail.com

Coming Up

Prima Dance Academy presents The Nutcracker Ballet, the famous holiday story of Clara and her adventures.  Date:  December 19 and 20, 2015.  Location:  Oshawa Little Theatre, 62 Russet Ave. Time:  2 pm.  Cost:  Adults $29.50, children under 12 $21.50.
