What’s On in Oshawa: November 10 -17, 2015

The Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling 2015 National arrives at the GM Centre, featuring the top 15 men’s and top 15 women’s teams from around the world vying for a $300,000 purse.  Date:  November 10, 2015 to November 15, 2015.  Location:  99 Athol Street East.  Time:  Various. Cinefest Durham presents Jimmy’s Hall, a film by renowned director Ken Loach, that recounts the incredible true story of Irish activist Jimmy Gralton.  Date:  November 11, 2015.  Location:  Cineplex Odeon Oshawa, Grandview N.  Time:  7 pm.  Cost:  $8 cash only at the door. 6 tickets maximum per person. 

In the early hours of December 11, 1914, William P. Stone, the night telegraph operator at Whitby Junction Station, was shot and killed. No one was ever convicted. Learn about Whitby’s most famous unsolved murder at  The Curious and Unsolved Case of William P.  Stone.  Date:  November 12, 2015. Visit the annual Oshawa Fibre Art Show and enjoy original works by award winning artists.  Date: November 12, 2015 to November 14, 2015.  Location:  19 Rosehill Blvd, in the Centennial-Albert Church.  Time:  9 am.  Cost: $5.  

Join the RMG for a special RMG Exposed Preview event with art consultant Holly Mazar-Fox.  Holly will discuss contemporary photography, and what to look for in a photographic edition.  Date: November 12.  Time:  7 pm to 8 pm.  Location:  72 Queen Street.  Cost:  FREE.

Don’t miss RMG Exposed, the Robert McLaughlin Gallery’s fundraising auction of juried photography! Proceeds support education and community programming at the RMG, while helping to increase awareness of contemporary photography. Oshawa Opera presents Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio.  Date:  November 15, 2015.  Time: 3 pm.   Location:  Kingsview United Church, 505 Adelaide Avenue East.  Tickets:  $25 Adults, children are free.

Try Yoga in the Elements, a Climate Controlled Yoga Journey at the UOIT ACE Wind Tunnel.  Date: November 16.  Location:  2000 Simcoe Street North.  Time:  6 pm to 7:15 pm.  Cost: $24.79.
