Free & Cheap Things to do August 20 – 21

Experience the gracious ritual of tea at the Oshawa Community Museum. Reservations can be made for Victorian Tea, followed by a tour of the museum’s historic buildings.  Date:  August 20. Location:  1450 Simcoe Street South. Time:  11:30 am.  Cost:  $15 adults, $7.50 children.  Reservations required, call 905-436-7624 ext. 106

Meet with graffiti artist Paul Paget at The Living Room Community Arts Studio during new artist “office hours“. Date: August 20 and 21.  Location: 149 Simcoe Street South.  Time:  1 pm to 4 pm.  Cost:  FREE

Even teens can get tired of doing nothing, so if mid-summer ennui has hit your 12 to 17 year old, keep them busy at Crafty Maniacs at the Oshawa Public Library.  Date:  August 20. Location:  65 Bagot Street.   Time:  2:30 pm. Cost: FREE. Registration required.

Unwind before the weekend at Yoga in the Garden at the Oshawa Community Museum! It`s completely free – just bring your mat (but donations are always appreciated).  Date:  August 21.  Location: 1450 Simcoe Street South.  Time:  10:30 am.  Cost:  FREE.

Calling all car buffs: Kars on King is one of the biggest events hosted in Downtown Oshawa!  Roads will close at 2 p.m. and over 400 classic cars fill the downtown during the evening.  Date:  August 21.  Location:  Downtown Oshawa.  Time:  4 pm to 9 pm.  Cost: FREE.

It’s the 3rd annual Touch-a-Truck event at the GM Centre in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Oshawa-Whitby, where kids can get up close and personal with trucks of all shapes and sizes.  Date: August 21. Location:  99 Athol Street East.  Time:  5 pm to 8 pm.  Cost:  FREE.

Upcoming Events:

The 22nd annual Autofest rolls into Lakeview Park August 22 and 23.  Family-friendly, this event features classic cars and vendors, plus live entertainment and cash giveaways.  Day passes are $12, and parking is free!

It’s the world’s first Climatic Hot Yoga Class in the $100 million ACE wind tunnel at UOIT, which promises to take your yoga journey to new levels of enjoyment!   So come as you are to Climatic Hot Yoga at the ACE Wind Tunnel September 8 from 8 am to 9:30 am! Just wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat (or choose the borrow a mat ticket).  Location:  UOIT, 2000 Simcoe Street North.  Cost:  $25.
