What kind of paranormal activity takes place in Durham Region?  The Paranormal Seekers can tell you – join them for an evening of discussion about paranormal, poltergeist, or just plain unexplained happenings.  Date: August 12.  Location:  Jess Hann Branch of the Oshawa Public Library.  Time:  6:30 pm.  Note:  This program is for teens ages 12 – 17.  Registration is required.  Cost:   FREE.

Head outside and catch the Oshawa Civic Band perform a free outdoor concert in Memorial Park!  Date:  August 12.  Location:  Memorial Park.  Time:  7:30 pm.  Cost:  FREE.

Drop in for a listening party of Native Other at The Labour District in Downtown Oshawa.  Date:  August 13.  Location:  29 King Street East.  Time:  3:30 pm.  Cost:  FREE

Head to Civic Square for Culture Squared, for early-evening music, heritage and arts!  If you missed the listening party, you can catch Native Other performing live at 6 pm. Date:  August 13.  Location:  50 Centre Street South. Time:  5 pm to 7:30 pm. Cost:  FREE.

Learn about the history of Oshawa on a Downtown Walking Tour hosted by the Oshawa Community Museum and Archives.  Part of Culture Squared, the tours depart Civic Square (in front of City Hall) at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. Date:  August 13.  Location:  50 Centre Street South. Cost:  FREE.

Support Durham preemies Shaylyn and Grayson at the Regent Theatre where VOODOO Pawn Shop play a fundraising concert. Date:  August 13.  Location:  50 King Street East.  Time:  8 pm to 11 pm.  Cost:  $25 per ticket.

Put some “om” in your Friday at Yoga in the Garden at the Oshawa Community Museum.  All you need is a mat and comfortable clothing.  Location:  Oshawa Community Museum, Lakeview Park.  Date:  August 14.  Time:  10 am.  Cost:  FREE.

Oshawa Food Festival (The Taste of Durham) and Business Expo arrives for a three-day event at Memorial Park in Downtown Oshawa.  Check out food, music, businesses and dance at this unique expo.  Date:  August 14.  Location:  Memorial Park.  Time:  11 am. Cost:  FREE.

Celebrate Durham’s creativity and culture at the Woodland Disco and Glowfest, part of the Durham Festival! The grounds of Parkwood Estate come alive with music, dance and an art competition, plus lots of kid-friendly events, including laser tag and crafts. Date:  August 14.  Location:  270 Simcoe Street North. Time: 6:30 pm to 11 pm.  Cost:  FREE.
